Established in 1991, Hardware Design embarked on its journey focusing on the assembly of personal computers, gradually evolving into a leader in custom electronics research and development. Over the years, our commitment to innovation has led to the successful completion of various government contracts and outsourcing orders from both national and international companies.

Our diverse portfolio showcases a multitude of digital, analogue, mixed-signal, and communication devices created to meet the unique needs of our clients. We prioritize client involvement, allowing them to actively participate in the development cycle of their products. Clients outline device characteristics, and through collaborative discussions, we refine specifications, determine size parameters, and agree on project timelines. Our dedication to quality is underscored by the ISO9001:2015 certification earned since 2013.

Believing in the potential of the next engineering generations, we’ve mentored and supported the Formula Student Bulgaria team, contributing to the successful creation of the first Bulgarian student race car. As part of our commitment to fostering young talent, we have welcomed numerous students for summer internships, providing them with valuable hands-on experience in our dynamic and innovative environment.

Alen Pachov

Alen Pachov

Founder, General Manager

In 1982, he earned a master’s degree in Computing Technology from the Technical University – Sofia after graduating from the Sofia High School of Mathematics in 1977. He began his career at the Central Institute of Computing Technique and Technology in Sofia, making key contributions to central processor units and patenting the “Channel-Channel Adapter” and the “Service Module.” As one of the main constructors of the IZOT 1014 computing machine, he played a crucial role in its development, marking it as one of the most advanced devices of its time. His expertise extended to collaborative projects with the Space Research Institute in Moscow, including the Intercosmos Bulgaria 1300 satellite and Vega 1 – Halley’s comet probe. In 1991, he founded Hardware Design, dedicating his efforts to providing effective and innovative solutions to clients ever since. With 40 years of comprehensive experience covering various fields of electronics, he has become an invaluable asset to our company.

Plamen Dimitrov

Plamen Dimitrov

COO

Passionate about science in high school, he actively participated in numerous mathematics and physics Olympiads, cultivating his strong analytical skills. After graduating from the High School of Mathematics in 2015, he pursued and earned an MEng degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh. During his academic journey, he enhanced his skills through part-time roles at Hardware Design and as a Lab Assistant at the University. Since joining Hardware Design in 2020, he swiftly became a valuable contributor, showcasing extensive problem-solving skills and determination. Simultaneously, he collaborated with the nanosatellite provider Endurosat, actively contributing to the development of their first commercial satellite. Plamen’s profound passion for mathematics, space, and IoT fuels his commitment to driving innovation within our team.

Georgi Pachov

Georgi Pachov

CTO

His passion for electronics ignited early in high school, where he developed his first projects, designing circuits, PCB layouts, and programming microcontrollers. Enrolling at the University of Edinburgh in 2015, he earned an MEng in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Driven by his true automotive passion, Georgi assumed the role of electrical team leader for two Formula Student teams: The University of Edinburgh and the Technical University – Sofia, leading the development of two race cars from scratch. Throughout his academic journey, he worked part-time at Hardware Design and served as a Lab Assistant at the university. Joining Hardware Design in 2020, Georgi swiftly became a key contributor, leveraging his engineering skills and business acumen to secure major deals. His profound passion for automotive, AI, and innovation continues to shape his dedicated commitment to excellence.
